Not necessarily. Everyone is free to play in their preferred way, but in our opinion, some puzzles are more enjoyable to solve when manipulating paper. It's a matter of personal preference ^^

But what's fun when replaying with friends who haven't played the game before is to form competing teams and play the role of the Game Master. It's you who guides your friends by giving them hints as they progress. In a police case like "7th Murder," for example, you can have 2 teams, Commissioner Dupond and Commissioner Dupont, working on the same case, and the first team to make the arrest wins!
